Dog Blinded Through Suspected Dogfighting Yearns For Cuddle Buddy & Loving Home

Last November, 108 dogs were rescued from the largest suspected dogfighting operation in Michigan and among them was a blind dog chained outside with only a broken-down doghouse for shelter.

With the help of federal and state law enforcement, Bark Nation, an animal welfare organization based in Detroit with a mission to end dogfighting and save lives, rescued all of the dogs.

A veterinarian examined the dogs and determined that the sweet boy, who was clearly blind, had most likely lost his eyesight as a result of dogfighting trauma.

"We can't imagine how traumatic it must have been for him to live outside, not protected by the elements, and be completely blind," Jessica Brown, Director of Operations at Bark Nation, told us.

"Turkey Jerky Snack" (also known as the KING) was his name, and he quickly won over the hearts of the staff and volunteers.

Turkey is adjusting to life in a shelter, but she longs for a forever home. He's putting his traumatic past behind him and is ready to unconditionally love someone. When you can't see, getting around a new place can be difficult and frightening, so Turkey has his own special wagon that he uses to go outside every day.

All movie and TV junkies should apply because he's looking for someone to cuddle with. This sweetheart is in need of a loving home and a comfy couch to curl up on. He's completely deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deaf He still enjoys adventures such as going to the park, but his preferred location is by your side. His ideal day consists of snuggling up and watching movies with some tasty, dog-friendly snacks.

The shelter stated, "He'll happily have a Disney movie marathon, eat cheese pizza, and snuggle his people all day on the couch."

With Turkey, there's never a dull moment...

He's being spoiled with treats while he waits for his person, and he recently won an award at the shelter's "Bark-ademy Awards." Turkey won the award for Best Actor. "The Bark-ademy Award winner for Best Actor melts the hearts of everyone he meets," the shelter wrote. He's charming and amusing, and he keeps everyone on their toes! Our winner is hoping that his newfound fame and glory will help him be adopted sooner rather than later. He has enjoyed playing with another dog in our shelter and would benefit from having a canine companion. He is completely deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly blind and 100 percent

Turkey requires a fenced-in yard as well as a patient family to help him in acclimating to his new surroundings. He may be able to live with another dog, but he will help gradual introductions, which the shelter team is happy to assist with.

While caring for dozens of rescued dogs, Bark Nation continues to fight against canine cruelty and dogfighting. With the help of their partners, they have successfully placed over 450 dogfighting survivors into loving homes since 2018. They accomplish all of this without the help of the government, relying instead on the generosity of their supporters.
