There are so many dogs in shelters, and they all want the same thing: to be adopted. Unfortunately, some may take longer than others.
Adopters often turn over many dogs, usually in favour of younger, more traditionally appealing puppies, due to their breed, age, appearance, or health concerns.
When Audra Spurio took her 2-year-old daughter to the shelter to adopt a dog, she never expected to be drawn to a sick and mangey pit bull. But the child persisted, knowing that the dog needed love and attention.
According to Audra, "my kid wanted to meet her more than any other dog at the shelter that day." Despite the fact that the dog "stunk like mange," the young girl insisted, "Mommy, that one."
"Leave the dog alone. "I need help," Gigi observed.
As a result, the girl got her wish, and Gigi let the pit bull run around outside. While the dog was timid and fearful, the child was always gentle and patient.
Many children might have been "grossed out" by the dog's problems, but Gigi only saw a buddy in need of her assistance.
The two formed an instant connection while playing outside, as the girl kissed and caressed the dog's tummy.
"I witnessed this fearful puppy melt in G's hands," Audra explained. "She would not let go of my daughter."
Gigi begged her mother to take the pit bull home so they could care for her when she was returned to her kennel. "Sick doggie, go home," the two-year-old says.
Fortunately, the young girl realised her ambition. The ill pit bull won her heart over all the other dogs at the shelter that day, and Scarlett, the dog, is now in her new home.
According to Audra, "Scarlett is currently back home and doing much better." "She still keeps G in her sights."
The touching story has nearly 14 million views on YouTube, with many fans expressing hope for the future as a result of Gigi and her care for animals.
What a great, caring child. We are overjoyed that Scarlett has found someone to love and care for her, as well as a lovely home.
