Thieves broke in, gave him a black eye and tried to steal his car... but didn't count on a pair of pit bulls determined to save their owner. It's a reminder of how loyal and loving rescue dogs can be. Thank you to these hero pit bulls!
Adopting a pet from a shelter is usually preferable. It's a chance to give a homeless or abandoned animal a second chance at life.
And, on occasion, when you rescue an animal, they may return the favour. When his adopted dogs came to save the day, one man found out.
Robert McGowan found two pit bulls at a local shelter. According to The Dodo, the dogs had a dreadful life and were abandoned.
Pit bulls are the most common breed found in shelters, and their reputation as aggressive dogs deters people from adopting them.
In contrast, Robert adopted the dogs and called them Ellabelle and Ladybird.
He gave them a loving home, and the pit bulls turned out to be gentle and friendly dogs.
However, the dogs recently revealed their true nature in an incident.
One night, Robert was in his garage when he was approached by four people. They hit him in the face, causing him to black out, and then stole his car.
When they asked for the keys, Robert told them that they were inside. They had no idea what else they would find within.
The two pit bulls went to their owner's help, barking and driving the assailants away.
"They chased them out," Robert told The Dodo. "My girls ran into the garage and stood over me."
"They stood there barking, making it clear that no one would ever hurt me again." "The four people flew away."
Despite the breed's reputation, Robert believes the dogs are not aggressive... When a loved one is threatened, they will not hesitate to defend themselves.
It's a touching story of how devoted and compassionate rescue dogs can be. It's easy to imagine what would have occurred if Robert hadn't brought them home. After reading his story, Robert encouraged people to consider adopting.
"They're all rescues." He wrote "Unwanted dogs." Please consider adopting a rescue. "They literally saved my life." They might even save your life."
Let us congratulate these brave pit bulls! By sharing this incredible story, you can help spread the word about how awesome rescues can be!
