Dog Chained In Abandoned Backyard Can’t Believe He’s Finally Being Rescued

The dog was noticed by a guy who returned home to find the pup chained behind his garage in a neighbouring backyard before being rescued. He began frantically ringing around for assistance. Fortunately, Rebel Dogs Detroit answered the call and dispatched a volunteer, Tiffany Perkins, to investigate. When she initially came, she had no idea what to expect, but as soon as she saw him, her heart melted.

"Beaker was timid and cowered behind the garage to hide," Perkins explained to The Dodo. "As I began yelling for him, he peered out the side. His tail began to wag as I approached. Then he pushed his weight into us as if relieved that we were patting him. He'meeped' like a muppet since he was so excited, therefore he was named Beaker!"

Beaker was obviously anxious after being chained up and abandoned, but as soon as he knew Perkins was there to rescue him, he completely relaxed and was so excited to meet his new best buddy.

"When the chain was untethered from the garage, he dropped to the ground for belly rubs and kisses and playful chaos," Perkins told me.

Unfortunately, Beaker's chain was trapped around his neck, so Perkins raced him to the vet to get him examined out. While they waited for Beaker's surgery to remove the chain, Perkins took advantage of the extra time to lavish Beaker with love he'd never known, and the beautiful dog was overjoyed.

"We had lots of bonding time in the car waiting for his surgery for 5+ hours," Perkins told reporters. "He was napping with his head in my lap after a while."

Even after everything Beaker had been through, all he wanted was to be loved – and his dream had finally been granted.

Beaker is currently recovering from surgery in his foster home and is the happiest dog anyone has ever met. It doesn't seem to matter what happened to Beaker in the past. What counts is where he is today and all of his new friends who care for him and want him to be happy and safe.

"He's learning how to be an indoor dog with unconditional love in his foster home," Perkins told NBC News.

Beaker is presently looking for his permanent home and would love to live with another lively, enthusiastic dog who can continue to teach him the ropes and become his best friend. Beaker knew he was finally safe as soon as he saw his rescuers, and he's so excited to find the forever family he deserves.
