John Travolta shares adorable photos of him with rescue dog Peanut

The 69-year-old actor and his son's dog, Peanut, recently shared a slice of cheese pizza — and the ensuing photo looked eerily identical to the classic spaghetti scene from the Disney film.

The little dog stood on the table and yanked on a piece of particularly stringy cheese as Travolta took a huge chunk in the picture, which the Grease star uploaded on his Instagram Story on Friday.

The Pulp Fiction actor tweeted another photo of Peanut, who belongs to his son Benjamin, this time a picture of the duo cuddling up together sleeping face-to-face in bed.

The cuddly photo is serene, especially when compared to a video Travolta uploaded last year of himself and the pooch in bed.

In September 2022, the actor shared a cute video of Peanut constantly prodding and kissing his face as he tried to avoid the saliva.

"This is how Peanut, Ben's dog, wakes me up," he captioned the video.

Travolta's son named the rescue dog Peanut, who was previously known as Mac N Cheese.

Travolta acquired the dog for Ben when Jamie Lee Curtis brought her onstage at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022 during a tribute to Betty White and her dedication to animal welfare.

"They were dumped in a box outside the Avenal Shelter," Chad Atkins, co-founder and executive director of animal rescue Paw Works, told PEOPLE. (The Avenal Animal Shelter, which works with Paw Works, is a rural shelter in Avenal, California.)

Peanut and her family were dumped at a California shelter, so Paw Works moved them to their facility to assist them find foster homes.

Peanut (who was still known as Mac N Cheese at the time) was the only member of her family who had yet to find a forever home as the 2022 Oscars neared. She was chosen for the big awards ceremony moment thanks to a stroke of luck — and Curtis.

"Jamie Lee Curtis was the one who said, 'No, no, no, we can't do that.'" Betty White is well-known for her love of animals and has long been an advocate for animal rescue. 'It needs to be a rescued animal,' said Atkins to PEOPLE.

Curtis chose Peanut from a group of adoptable puppies in Paw Works' care after the director received images and information about them. Peanut was brought onstage for the In Memoriam segment.

Atkins kept the puppy for the remainder of the night, and while numerous people indicated interest in adopting her, it was Travolta who "eye-locked" with Peanut, held her for 30 minutes, and followed up the next day about adopting her.

Travolta made the adoption public on Instagram in March 2022, posting a photo of himself, Peanut, and the pup's new owner, his son Ben. "Ben adopted this dog from last [night's] Oscar tribute to Betty White," the actor captioned the photograph. "Thank you @curtisleejamie & @pawworks."

"So it's happily ever after for her now," Atkins told PEOPLE of the puppy's future in April 2022, and it's been nothing but pizza, love, and snuggles since, at least according to Travolta's Instagram photos.
