Steve Anthony, a homeless man with serious bone cancer, and River, his dog who was struck by a car and severely injured, both experienced a "Christmas Miracle." When the dog was struck, Steve was working at a Christmas tree lot in Roseville, California.

The car who struck the dog did not stop, but Jenifer Martin, the driver of the next vehicle, came out to help. She took River to the Pet Emergency Centre and spent her entire savings on the 9-month-old puppy.
River, who was frail, had a fractured pelvis. As a result, Jennifer began collecting funds on Facebook for River and Steve. River's operation was a success. In just 48 hours, over $9,000 was gathered.

The money was enough for Steve to find temporary housing while River healed. They'll stay at a motel for a week while River recovers. What a wonderful Christmas present!
