 Male dog whined and begged for help, sitting patiently watching his partner going to die.

Dogs are incredibly empathetic and emotionally sophisticated creatures. They can develop true friendships with other dogs and care for them when they are in need.

While no one stops to help the dog, her male friend watches over her, evidently concerned.

That is what one viral video shows: when a dog's best friend gets injured, he remains by her side the entire time.

A stray dog in Azerbaijan was hit by a car and injured on the ground, according to a video posted on the YouTube channel Pets In Love.

A bystander finally comes to help. He lends the dog a shirt, which the male dog uses to cover his injured partner. They waited for help after a passerby contacted a rescue team.

When the rescue crew arrives, they take both dogs to the veterinarian after gaining their trust. While the injured female receives medical attention, the male dog remains in the room and never looks away from his friend.

Ruby recovered, so the dogs, now named Max and Ruby, were kept together in the same room. Ruby resumed walking after a month, much to the relief of her partner Max.

According to Pets In Love, Max and Ruby's story ended happily: they were adopted and now live together in the United States, "living a wonderful and happy life!"
